Rutherglen Library
Rutherglen Library re-opened after major refurbishment on 5 January 2010.
Author visit
Due to the adverse weather conditions Matthew Reilly's UK
tour has been cancelled. Consequently the planned visit to Hamilton Townhouse
library on the 23rd January will not take place. We are sorry for the
disappointment and for any inconvenience this may cause.
Biggar Library
A new library opened on 19 October to serve the community of Biggar. The library is part of the new Biggar High School complex and has its own door access separate from the school which is reached via Market Road. As well as the usual range of books, music and films for loan, the library also has a learning centre with internet access. The library is a bright, spacious area which will appeal to all users. The library will be open from 9.15 to 3 pm on Mondays and Fridays, 4pm - 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9.30 to 5 pm on Saturdays.
Carluke Library
South Lanarkshire Council opened the new Carluke library on 12 October. The new facility is part of the Integrated Community Facility co-located with a Community Centre and primary school. The new library is very attractive with a great deal of natural light and also has enhanced IT facilities. Car park access will be limited for several weeks and pedestrian access is by John Street only for the moment.
Rhymetimes
Bookstart rhymetimes take place weekly at a number of our libraries. Bring your baby or toddler along and let them join in! Due to the refurbishment of Rutherglen library rhymetime sessions there have been postponed until January 2010.
