Independently run reading groups

If you have a reading group or are setting one up you can join the library as a group and borrow multiple copies of books free of charge from our Reading Group Collection which is held at Hamilton Town House Library. Each set of books contains 10 titles and there is a wide range to choose from.

The library service can also support independently run book groups across South Lanarkshire by providing:

A pack with advice on starting up and running a reading group
Longer loans on a dedicated group ticket
No fines, reservations or overdue charges

How to Apply:

Your group will need a special reading group card to borrow these sets of books. The main group contact can apply for a card at their local library. Proof of name and address is required.

Ways to book:

When your group membership has been set up, you will be contacted to arrange delivery of your first set of books. When you are ready to borrow another set, you can either contact us by email at readinggroups.enquiries@library.s-lanark.org.uk, or staff at your local library will be happy to help you. This can be done via e-mail, telephone or in person. We need to know the name of the book, when you need the book and where the books will be picked up. It is best to have an alternative title in mind in case your first choice is on loan to another group. The group contact will be responsible for reserving, collecting and making sure books are returned.
